Our recent paper has been published in Analyst!

Academics from Karabuk University’s Medical Engineering department have developed a new method for the rapid and accurate diagnosis of stomach cancer. The researchers, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haci Mehmet Kayili and Dr. Hakan Yilmaz, have stated that in the coming years, a cancer diagnosis can be made much faster. With traditional methods, the result that comes out of the pathology unit takes at least a week, but with machine learning and glycomic technologies, a 3-hour analysis can be obtained. This method will allow cancer to be detected much faster by examining the glycomic profiles of cancer cells using classical biochemical analysis. The successful results obtained have been accepted for publication in a high-impact scientific journal, “Analyst”, presented by the “Royal Society of Chemistry”. The researchers, who state that these technologies will become more commonly used in cancer diagnosis and treatment in the future, continue to work on different types of cancer and state that with studies to be carried out on blood samples, it may be possible to catch cancer at an early stage. 04.04.2023

TUSEB to Support Glycoprofiling of Thyroglobulin in Thyroid Cancer Project

A new project focused on the glycoprofiling of the thyroglobulin protein in thyroid cancers has been selected to receive support from the Health Institutes of Turkiye (TUSEB). The project aims to improve the early diagnosis and treatment of thyroid cancer by investigating the glycans (sugar molecules) attached to the thyroglobulin protein, which is produced by thyroid cells. 31.03.2023
